Question 1

What do {page}, {total}, and {date} mean in a PDF header?

Accepted Answer

{page} is the current page, {total} is the page count of this file, and {date} is the day you generate the download. Type them exactly like that.

Question 2

Can I add both a header and a footer on a PDF?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each field can have different text and alignment.

Question 3

Does the header text change from page to page?

Accepted Answer

Only the tokens change. Plain text repeats. There is no per-page custom sentence.

Question 4

Will a new footer cover an existing footer?

Accepted Answer

It can overlap. Shorten the line or pick another alignment. This tool does not delete the old footer.

Question 5

Is a header the same as a watermark?

Accepted Answer

No. A header stays in the margin. A watermark sits on the content and is text-only on that tool.

Question 6

Can I put an image in the PDF header?

Accepted Answer

No. Headers and footers are text. A logo would need a different workflow.

Question 7

Can I apply the same header to many PDFs?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Batch PDF offers a header and footer operation and an optional ZIP.

Question 8

Does adding a header overwrite the original PDF?

Accepted Answer

No. You download a new copy.

Question 9

Why is {date} yesterday on a file I download after midnight?

Accepted Answer

{date} uses the day your browser thinks it is when you generate the file. Run it again if you need the new calendar day.

Question 10

Should I number pages here or on the page-number tool?

Accepted Answer

Use Page Numbers if you only need a number. Use this page if the line must include words plus {page} and {total}.

Question 11

Do header tokens work on a scanned PDF?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The line is new artwork on top of the page, scan or not.
