Question 1

If I leave a metadata field empty, is the old value wiped?

Question 2

Why does Creator say PDF Merge Files after I edit metadata?

Accepted Answer

The writer sets Creator to PDF Merge Files on the download. That is expected.

Question 3

Does editing metadata change the pages?

Accepted Answer

No. Title, author, subject, and keywords are properties, not printed ink.

Question 4

Will metadata edit overwrite the original PDF?

Accepted Answer

No. You download a new copy.

Question 5

Can I remove all metadata with this tool?

Accepted Answer

Not by clearing fields. Empty skips. Keep a note of that if you needed a wipe.

Question 6

Is a metadata title the same as a header?

Accepted Answer

No. A header is printed. Metadata shows in Document Properties.

Question 7

Does metadata edit upload the PDF?

Accepted Answer

No. The rewrite stays in the browser.

Question 8

Will keywords help Google rank my PDF?

Accepted Answer

Treat keywords as desktop-search hints. They are not a ranking lever we claim.

Question 9

Can I change CreationDate here?

Accepted Answer

This page is title, author, subject, and keywords. Do not expect a full XMP editor.

Question 10

Should I edit metadata before PDF/A conversion?

Accepted Answer

You can. Archival conversion is a separate step and still needs a veraPDF check.

Question 11

Why does Preview still show the old title?

Accepted Answer

You may be looking at the original file. Open the download.
