Question 1

Does cropping a PDF delete pages?

Accepted Answer

No. Crop changes the visible margins. The page count stays the same. Use Remove Pages to drop a sheet.

Question 2

How do I remove a white scanner border from a PDF?

Accepted Answer

Increase the crop on that edge until the border sits outside the visible box, then download the new file.

Question 3

What units are PDF crop margins in?

Accepted Answer

PDF points. 72 points equal one inch. Start small and tighten.

Question 4

Can I crop each page to a different box?

Accepted Answer

Not on this page. The same margins apply to every page. Split mixed groups first if their borders differ.

Question 5

Is cropped content permanently gone?

Accepted Answer

You changed the visible box on the download. Do not treat crop as redaction. If words must leave the pixels, use Redact.

Question 6

Will crop overwrite my original PDF?

Accepted Answer

No. Keep the source if you crop too far.

Question 7

Should I crop or resize a PDF for A4?

Accepted Answer

Resize if the page must become A4. Crop if the size is already right and only the unused edge should disappear.

Question 8

Can I crop a PDF to drop a header I no longer want?

Accepted Answer

You can push the top margin down so that header is outside the window. For a legal black-out, redact instead.

Question 9

Does crop reduce file size much?

Accepted Answer

Usually no. Hidden pixels can still sit in the file. Compress pictures if size is the real problem.

Question 10

Why did I lose a line of text after cropping?

Accepted Answer

The margin was too large. Open the original and crop a smaller amount.

Question 11

Can I undo a crop on the downloaded file?

Accepted Answer

Not as a restore of the old box. Drop the original and crop again.
