Question 1

Does the PDF summarizer OCR scans?

Accepted Answer

No. Scans fail. Extract must already find text.

Question 2

What file does the summarizer download?

Accepted Answer

A .txt brief. It does not rebuild a PDF.

Question 3

Does summarizer upload the original PDF?

Accepted Answer

The file is extracted locally. Only the extracted text goes to the AI API.

Question 4

Is the original PDF overwritten?

Accepted Answer

No.

Question 5

Should I use Chat instead of Summarizer?

Accepted Answer

Use Chat for questions and follow-ups. Use Summarizer when you want a filed .txt brief.

Question 6

Can I summarize a 200-page scan?

Accepted Answer

Not without a text layer. OCR first. Even then, very long text may be truncated by the API.

Question 7

Will a PDF summary come out in another language?

Accepted Answer

No. The brief stays in the source language. Use Translator for a rebuilt PDF in another language.

Question 8

Why is the summary empty?

Accepted Answer

Extract found little or no text, or the API returned nothing useful. Try Extract Text to see what the file actually contains.

Question 9

Are figures and charts summarized?

Accepted Answer

Only if they exist as text. Pictures are not described.

Question 10

Can I pick bullet points versus a paragraph brief?

Accepted Answer

Use the style controls on the page when they are offered. The download is still .txt.

Question 11

Is the summary a substitute for reading a contract?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a gist. Read the source for obligations.
