Question 1

Does Chat with PDF download an answer file?

Accepted Answer

No. Answers stay in the thread. Copy them if you need a record.

Question 2

Does Chat with PDF OCR scans?

Accepted Answer

No. Scans fail. Extract must already find text.

Question 3

Does chat upload the PDF?

Accepted Answer

The file is extracted locally. The extracted text and your question go to the Q&A API.

Question 4

Will chat invent facts that are not in the PDF?

Accepted Answer

It should stay on the extract. If the answer is not there, treat a confident guess as a miss.

Question 5

Is chat the same as the summarizer?

Accepted Answer

No. Summarizer writes one .txt brief. Chat is a question thread with no download.

Question 6

Can I chat in another language?

Accepted Answer

You can ask in another language. The source text is whatever extract found. Translator is the tool that rebuilds a PDF.

Question 7

Does chatting with a PDF replace the file on disk?

Accepted Answer

No. There is no PDF download at all, and the file you dropped is left alone.

Question 8

Why does chat say it cannot find anything?

Accepted Answer

The extract is empty or the clause is not in the text layer. Try Extract Text, or OCR a scan.

Question 9

Can I use chat on a bank statement?

Accepted Answer

If the statement has text, yes. If you need rows in Excel, use Bank Statement to Excel.

Question 10

Should I redact before I chat?

Accepted Answer

Yes if a secret should never sit in an extract that leaves the device.

Question 11

Does chat work offline?

Accepted Answer

Extract is local. The answer needs the API, so the question step is not offline.
