The night-reading copy with dark paper and light text. The original daytime PDF is not overwritten.

Question 2

What is the difference between Auto, Text, and Image in dark mode?

Accepted Answer

Auto uses Text when pdf.js finds enough text and Image invert on scan-like pages. Text keeps a searchable overlay. Image is pixels only.

Question 3

What do OLED, soft, and warm change?

Accepted Answer

OLED is true black and cream ink. Soft is a lighter dark gray with silver text. Warm is brown-black paper and parchment ink.

Question 4

Does dark mode keep selectable text?

Accepted Answer

Yes on pages that use Text mode. Image invert has the same look without a text layer.

Question 5

Do photos invert in PDF dark mode?

Accepted Answer

Photos are dimmed, not hue-flipped, so figures keep real colors.

Question 6

Does dark mode upload the textbook?

Accepted Answer

No. Inversion runs in the browser.

Question 7

Should I use dark mode or PDF to Kindle?

Accepted Answer

Dark mode keeps a PDF. Kindle conversion builds a reflowable EPUB.

Question 8

Is dark mode the same as grayscale?

Accepted Answer

No. Grayscale is for black-and-white print and destroys selectable text.

Question 9

Why do some tables look off in Text mode?

Accepted Answer

Text mode inverts bars and redraws type. Use Image invert if you want a simpler pixel flip.

Question 10

Can I dark-mode only some pages?

Accepted Answer

The pass hits the file you drop. Split out chapters if only some sheets should invert.

Question 11

Will compressing _dark.pdf ruin the invert?

Accepted Answer

Compression can soften pictures. Prefer compressing the daytime original, then invert, if quality matters.
