Question 1

How does PDF text editing work?

Accepted Answer

You click a text line and change it. On export, the original operators for that line are dropped and your new words are written. There is no white rectangle painted over the line.

Question 2

Is my PDF uploaded?

Accepted Answer

No. Editing runs in the browser. The file stays on your device.

Question 3

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

Accepted Answer

Yes, after OCR lifts the words, or by adding a new text box on the image. Review the result. OCR is not perfect.

Question 4

Will a white box cover the old text?

Accepted Answer

No. Overlays stay transparent. For vector text we suppress the original line instead of covering it.

Question 5

What font will the new text use?

Accepted Answer

Helvetica, so the file opens cleanly in common viewers. It will not always match the original typeface.

Question 6

Can I add a new line, not just edit one?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add a text box, type, and place it. Same transparent overlay.

Question 7

Should I use PDF Suite instead?

Accepted Answer

Use Suite if you will also split, compress, sign, or mark the file in the same session.

Question 8

Can I change images or page layout?

Accepted Answer

This page is for text. Use Suite or the dedicated image and organize tools for the rest.

Question 9

Does this work on a phone?

Accepted Answer

You can try, but clicking lines is built for a pointer. A desktop browser is the honest fit.

Question 10

Are the original words still in the file?

Accepted Answer

For edited vector lines, those operators are stripped. Do not treat this as redaction. Use Redact if the old words must be gone from the file.

Question 11

Is this legally the same as editing the source?

Accepted Answer

No. You are changing the PDF copy. Keep the source document if you still need it.
